Well it is no surprise that the creative process of making art is uplifting and therapeutic. The process allows for focusing on the task at hand, avoiding the daily cycle of worries and concerns. It is what Csikszentmihalyi calls “flow”. In the case of this particular study, participants in an art-making group had greater positive outcomes in mood repair and inflammatory immune responses than those doing meditation or expressive writing!
