ART DEPARTMENT WASHING CADMIUM DOWN THE DRAIN!

Cadmium has been found in the wastewater system at Texas State University - the wastewater that flows to the San Marco River.  The source of the dangerous level of cadium is the Art Department. In response to this discovery the school has banned cadmium, and is requiring the art department to process all wastewater as a hazardous substance. One of the professors commented: "cadmium makes a really great set of colors, so cadmium is a traditional pigment used for reds, oranges, yellows, among other colors.” However, "many artists have suffered health problems over the centuries because of the materials." And yet, they flushed the cadmium down the drain!
